"Welcome to Briar Creek General Store, the shopping capital in the middle of nowhere. You can buy anything from nails to peas. Free photos for the first customer, too." Mark solemnly remarked as the group entered the mentioned store. His girlfriend Jade giggled and brushed her silver-blonde hair away from her face.

"Oh shut up, Mark." Mary-Lynnette replied with an annoyed expression on her face. "Just shut up."

Ash chuckled. "Someone definitely got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." Mary-Lynnette glared at him, which only made him laugh harder.

"Come on, we don't have all morning. Split up, get what you need to buy, don't waste your time fighting." Rowan patiently said.

"Always the peace lover, Rowan." Kestrel snorted.

The others followed the brunette's order. Mark and Jade promptly ran off together. "You kids need some fun time, you know." The seventeen year old snickered before going away with her older sister, leaving Ash and Mary-Lynnette alone.

There was an awkward silence after.

"Let's just get this over with." Mary-Lynnette grumbled and walked among the aisles of the small store. She looked over her shoulder and saw Ash lagging behind, inspecting the different figurines on display. He then picked up a small jewelry box.

"You break it, you buy it." She called out to him.

But he didn't seem to hear her, so she walked over to where he was. "What's that you're looking at---" She stopped as soft and tinkling music started to play, and the porcelain dancing couple started to turn around.

"It's a music box."

He snickered. "It took that long for you to figure out what this thingamajig is?"

Mary-Lynnette punched him on the shoulder playfully in reply. "Yeah, right."

Ash smiled cheekily. "Then I guess I'd better buy this for you. Consider it as a friendly present."

"There can be no friendship between us, Redfern."

"So I heard, Carter. So I heard."
